Recap of the Herb Alley Walk with Lauren Giambrone
On a lovely Friday afternoon, community members gathered at The Spark of Hudson office to participate in an Alley Walk, searching for medicinal native herbs led by local community herbalist Lauren Giambrone of Good Fight Herb Co.
Lauren expertly guided us on a leisurely stroll through the enchanting Cherry Alley, immersing us in a world of natural wonders. During our exploration, Lauren unveiled the secrets of various remarkable plants, unveiling their hidden medicinal powers such as Stinging Nettle—an anti-inflammatory herb known for its circulation benefits and its ability to treat stiff joints and arthritis.
We also explored the healing properties of plants like broadleaf plantain, which can be used to alleviate bug bites and bee stings, as well as Yellow Dock, Curly Dock, and Burdock—a group of plants with gut anti-inflammatory properties. It's fascinating to note that the texture of Burdock served as inspiration for the creation of Velcro.
Throughout our journey, Lauren's expertise and passion shone brightly, allowing us to grasp the incredible potential that lies within the world of medicinal herbs. We departed with hearts full of gratitude, armed with newfound knowledge and a deep appreciation for the healing power of nature.
