The Spark Building’s Community Access Program: Making Space for Hudson
The Spark Building is a space for learning, connection, and community—but most importantly it’s a space for you. We host our own programming and partner with organizations to bring mission-driven events to life, and we also want the building to be available for people to use in ways that are personally meaningful to them. Whether that’s a family reunion, a birthday party, or a community gathering, The Spark is a resource for everyone in Hudson.
To make that possible, we’re working toward making the building financially self-sustaining. While The Spark Building was purchased and revitalized using funds from our founders, its long-term success depends on covering its own operating costs: keeping the lights on, maintaining the space, and supporting the salaries of our staff so it can be a resource for our community for years to come.
To do that we rent the space for a variety of events, including some at market rate. That revenue helps fund our programming and also supports the Community Access Program, which keeps space rental rates affordable for people who need it.
Every quarter, we set aside money to subsidize space rentals for events that align with our mission. Sometimes, that means offering reduced rates to nonprofits hosting community events open to Hudson residents. Other times, it means making sure families can gather for celebrations in a space that feels welcoming and accessible. Our goal is to ensure The Spark remains a place that benefits the whole community, in the ways that matter to them.
If you’re thinking about hosting an event at The Spark and would like to be considered for the Community Access Program, let us know! The inquiry form is quick and easy—it just asks for basic event details, with no payment required at the time. If you're applying for the Community Access Program, there are just 2–3 extra questions. Even if you’re unsure whether your event qualifies, we encourage you to submit the form—our team is happy to work with you to figure it out!
We want The Spark to be a place that truly serves the Hudson community. Let’s make it happen together!
