2e or Not 2e: Supporting Twice Exceptional Learners at Home and School with Dr. Matthew Zakreski

A Thinking Outside the Box Event
2e or Not 2e : Supporting Twice Exceptional Learners at Home and School with Dr. Matthew Zakreski
Time: 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM

Presented by The Empowerment Project in partnership with The Spark of Hudson

Join Dr. Matthew Zakreski, known as “Dr. Matt,”for an engaging and informative workshop focused on understanding and supporting twice exceptional (2e) learners. Dr. Matt is a clinical psychologist and internationally recognized speaker whose work centers on supporting neurodivergent individuals, including those who are gifted, ADHD, autistic, or dyslexic.

Giftedness is often misunderstood within educational systems—and when giftedness co-occurs with a learning difference such as ADHD or a specific learning disability, awareness becomes even more limited. In this workshop, Dr. Matt will introduce key definitions of giftedness and twice exceptionality, and explore how 2e students navigate educational and mental health systems. Participants will gain practical insights into how to better support twice exceptional learners both at home and in school settings.

Dr. Zakreski holds a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Widener University, where his research focused on the social and emotional needs of gifted learners and expanded into best educational and occupational practices for neurodivergent people. His clinical experience, combined with hundreds of speaking engagements worldwide, has made him a trusted and dynamic voice in this field.

Printed workshop materials will be available for attendees to take home.
